Today: Pursuit Women (10km)
Pursuit competition, introduced two years ago : it is certainly the most
exciting competition, in which the leaders on the sprint course will change
quite often due to the frequent shooting bouts. This competition also allows the
athlete starting last to win. The start order is determined by the placings of
the previous Sprint competition.
The winner of the previous Sprint competition will be the first to start in the
Pursuit, the second one following in an interval that is equal to the time he
had lost in the Sprint competition compared to the winner and so on. Thus the
competitor who crosses first the finish line is really the winner. There is no
timing to calculate and it is clearer for the spectator. The men will ski a
distance of 12.5km and the women a distance of 10km. For each target missed, the
competitors have to ski apenalty loop of 150m that will cost some places.

22:30 Trickshot: Lakeside World Pool Masters in Thurrock, Essex, England
Live
After the huge success of the inaugural competition in Blackpool in 1996, the
1997 event was staged at the Lakeside Shopping Centre in Thurrock, Essex. Earl
'The Pearl' Strickland heads the eight man field for this exciting event
featuring the finest trickshot exponents in the world.
From Japan, Kazuo Fujima will be looking to repeat the success of last year's
third placed Takeshi Okumura. Germany's Ralf Souquet, the reigning World 9-Ball
Pool Masters champion and his fellow countryman Oliver Ortmann, also a former
world champion, are certain to be in contention. Six times former world snooker
champion Steve Davis is a twice former winner of the snooker trickshots crown.
He could well be a outside bet for the pool title as he pits his considerable
skills on the smaller table. From France we have the multi-talented Vincent
Faquet - a master of illusion who will be trying to take this coverted title for
1997. And finally, from the UK we will see the debut of Daryl Peach, the UK
Number One 9-ball pool player from Blackpool and from Scotland Craig MacGilvarry
who is famous for his impersonation of the snooker player Alex Higgins.
0:30 Stunts: 'And They Walked Away'

The drivers came out miraculously unharmed and walked away, still surprised to
be alive.
