   0:30 Superbike: Indoor Superbiker - 'Guidon d'Or' at Paris-Bercy
  Live
The Superbiker is a 20 years old discipline, born in the United State. Indeed,
in the 70's, there was every year a motorcycling race in Carlsbad, gathering the
best bikers of every discipline. This race was supposed to underline the best
rider of the year and was very spectacular. A part of the track was in asphalt
and the rest was a dirt track.
The machines were hybrid motorcycles. In fact, the bikers used cross motorcycles
with slick tyres. This event was purely televisual as there were no spectators
around the circuit. Then it became a real discipline with its own national
championshipsall over the World. The 'Guidon d'Or' (Gold Handlebar) was born 10
years ago in France on the same concept. Great bikers participated in this
competition. We can name for example Eddie Lawson (4 times World Champion in
500cc) or Wayne Rainey (3 times World Champion in 500cc). Both won this event
organised every year at Carole's circuit, near Paris. After a three year break,
the Guidon d'Or comes back this evening at Bercy's sports tadium in Paris and is
indoor for the first time. Bikers from every discipline are present: Jean-Michel
Bayle (500cc), S‚phane Chambon (Supersport, 3rd at the World Championship),
Fabrizio Pirovano (Supersport), R‚gis Laconi (500cc), Yves Demaria, Fr‚d‚ric
Bolley (both Motocross competitors) and also endurance riders such as Christian
Lavielle or William Costes. To conclude, the famous rider Carl Fogarty could
come but his presence is still conditional. The victory should smile at the
specialists of Superbiker. This race is, according to the organisers, a
competition as well as a festival gathering the motorcycling family.
